Good Neighbor Award for 2024

The Holden Democratic Town Committee announces the recipients of its annual Good Neighbor Award, this year its 29th. The award honors citizens of the town who have made significant and/or long term contributions to the community through their volunteer activities. It’s an opportunity for friends and neighbors to say “thank you” to those people who have touched our lives through what they have given.

Verena M. Welch 

Jessica is being recognized for her work with Holden’s Community Garden. Verena, a high school senior, is being honored for her work in addressing period poverty. She is also the student running the TOPSoccer program.

The recipients will be honored at a friendly, informal ceremony and reception held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Holden’s Senior Center, 1130 Main Street. The time is 7:00 pm. Tim Ethier will make the presentation, which will be telecast live on HCTV Channel 191.

Holden Candidates’ Forum

The Wachusett Area Chamber of Commerce will host a forum for candidates running for open seats on the Holden Board of Selectmen and the Wachusett Regional School District Committee.  The event will take place on Wednesday, April 27 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Holden Senior Center.

Richard Callahan is being recognized for a lifetime of interest in nature that has focused on bees: researching and advocating. Karen Haynes is being honored as the epitome of a good neighbor. Jenni Howe is being recognized for her years of service with Holden’s Girl Scouts.

The recipients will be honored at a friendly, informal ceremony and reception held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Holden’s Senior Center, 1130 Main Street. The time is 7:00 pm. Tim Ethier will make the presentation, which will be telecast live on HCTV Channel 191.

The Albertinis are being recognized for their work with the Gale Free Library’s Book Cellar and the Wachusett Food Pantry; Osman Bilsel and Howie Blatt for their work with Holden Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer program; Glenn Sullivan for his many years with the Boy Scouts.

The recipients will be honored at a friendly, informal ceremony and reception held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Holden’s Senior Center, 1130 Main Street. The time is 7:00 pm. Tim Ethier will make the presentation, which will be televised live on HCTV Channel 191.

Jeff Clements, author of “Corporations are Not People” and founder of American Promise, will speak about mobilizing efforts to overturn “Citizens United” and the influence of money in politics.

Join the LWV of the Worcester Area for this important and timely topic. Learn what you can do to participate in this local and national effort.

The Holden Democratic Town Committee will hold a stand-out at 10 AM on Saturday, February 18, at the corner of Main Street and Route 31.

Bring signs and American flags………only positive signs.
